NOCSIA 2012 Annual Report
The Northern Ohio Chapter held 5 events in 2012 (a sixth event will be rescheduled due to illness)
November 16th – NOCSIA members and their guests toured the landmark Alcazar Hotel in Cleveland Heights. Fellow NOCSIAN Jim Wickert, president of Wickert Engineering, Inc., present eda special program on the hotel’s original steam heating system which he recently redesigned.
On October 27, 2012 – NOCSIA members toured the Military Aviation Preservation Society (MAPS) Museum and Restoration Lab at Akron-Canton Airport.
August 26, 2012 tour and combined talk was cancelled. Craig Bara was to talk about noted American industrial designer Viktor Schreckengost followed by a tour of the print and paper making facilities at the Morgan Conservatory. A new date will be announced when Mr. Bara is feeling better.
April 27 2012 – NOCSIA members attended a special tour of the redesigned 50,000 ton Forging Press at the Alcoa Cleveland Works
March 3, 2012, — NOCSIA and the Euclid History Museum sponsored Christopher Busta-Peck’s presentation on Historic Cleveland Industrial Sites. Christopher Busta-Peck shared the history of the Luster Tannery (circa 1850), a massive stone building at 16360 Euclid Avenue.
The December 2, 2012 meeting was held at Cleveland State University. The guest speaker was Blaine Hays, co-author of the new book “Transit in the Triangle, A Century Look at Pittsburgh Public Transit”. who talked about the technological history of the company and the challenges that were surmounted to build and maintain a transit system among the rivers and hills of Pittsburgh.

Frank Wrenick officiated election by moving that all nominees be accepted as candidates for 2012 – 2014
Don Johnson seconded

Steve Titchenal — Treasurer
Unanimous approval of slate, no no’s.
Treasurers report
$100.00 in bills outstanding. Some is postage, nametags, executive board dinner, food for annual meeting to Steve
$2200.00 will probably be final figure for 2012
48 paid members — 4 complimentary memberships for speakers
Fred talked about getting the chapter involved in a book that is about Cleveland industrial sites. This is our project for the year, giving the chapter a purpose beyond just tours
